Dev Corner: Chris Chung

News | Jan. 23, 2008 (7 months, 2 weeks ago) | by Kody | via www.plaync.com | Filed in NCSoft

It's been about a month since Robert Garriot's promotion was announced, which subsequently also promoted ArenaNet's Chris Chung to take over Robert's previous position of President of NCsoft North America.

Now with a few weeks under his belt in his new role, Chris Chung took time out to give NCsoft fans an update on what's going on with him at the helm in this latest Dev Corner update, released today.

"This industry more than any other industry is really about the talent, and I believe the key to success is realizing this fact. What is exciting is that you never know who will be the next Richard Garriott, Sid Meier or Mike O’Brien of the industry. They could come from any part of the company. This is the industry where, as the 'famous' Parisian food critic from the movie Ratatouille, Anton Ego, has once said, 'Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere.'"

Chris is also excited about 2008 for NCsoft, as they're not only going to continue building a portfolio of high-quality MMOs for the PC, but they're expanding into the console market by developing titles for the PlayStation 3, "Of course, we will continue support of our entire suite of online games—we have a lot of exciting things planned for Richard Garriott’s Tabula Rasa, the City of Heroes and Guild Wars franchises, Lineage II, Dungeon Runners, Exteel and the rest. We hope to see the release of the much anticipated AION: The Tower of Eternity this year, first in Korea and then here in the United States and in Europe. Finally, we’ve also started work on our first PLAYSTATION 3 project and hope we can release more information on that in the near future."

Of course, the greatest news of all is NCsoft's new commitment to ensuring their suite of games are as user-friendly as possible to get into and play, "This year we also want to focus on making sure we look at our online infrastructure and make it much more user friendly. We will also continue to build and roll out an array of services that will benefit our customers by making it easier to play games and connect with their friends."
