Curse Client Update

News | May 19, 2008 (3 months, 3 weeks ago) | by Kody | Filed in Curse

Today we pushed live a new version of the Curse Client that addresses many of the issues users have reported, including a complete rewrite of the backend engine of the client to make it more efficient. We feel this is the most stable, reliable release of the client to-date, and hopefully you will too after giving it a try.

The first time you run the client, it will automatically update to the new version. If you haven't yet given the client a try, you can download it here.

A few of the major issues addressed with today's update:

  • Alert windows will no longer "spam" the screen -- taking up a large amount of real estate
  • AddOn Installation from the website was sometimes not detected; this is now fixed.
  • Logging into the client should be much more reliable now.

This is just the beginning of a huge week for Curse, so be sure to keep an eye out for further announcements today and tomorrow! Thank you everyone who has given the Curse Client a chance so far; we appreciate all the feedback on it and have many more changes and feature additions coming in the future based upon that feedback. We'll be able to talk more about that soon, so be on the lookout!

I just updated the curse client to the new version this morning and since cannot install any addons with it. When clicking on the links on this site to install via curse client it brings up an error "Failed to connect to previous instance ."

I have uninstalled it and reinstalled the new version from scratch and still have the same problem.

in addition it worked perfectly before updating to version 0.16.0.0

New Question for you guys, I thought Curse Client would upload my character and hardware to my profile, it hasn't done this. Any idea why?

This downloaded automatically and the sound stopped working in WoW - It works on the rest of my system and in all other programs but this update totally stopped the sound in WoW.

I tried all the sound devices in the WoW Sound settings and nothing worked.

I have unstalled the curse client and had to run the repair tool. That fixed it. However I have lost all my addons and settings.

Reinstalled the Curse Client and this time the sound came back - But I have to reinstall all my addons. Arrrrrggggg

Was the ability to manually force a scan of addons, to see which ones are out of date?

Yes, that has been added, its under the right click menu in world of warcraft options.

Guys, your previous Version of Curse profiler Folder name was Curse Profiler, the New one is CurseProfiler... Is this intended so that the previous version stays there as well? Or can we simply delete the old folder? Thanks for the reply...

You may delete the old one. It is no longer in use, and will be automatically deleted in a few patches. Its there incase we had to pull this update.
